Which cars and when to replace the timing belt
We replace timing kits and clutches on passenger cars of many makes — petrol and diesel. The interval depends on the engine: the manufacturer states it in the service schedule, usually as mileage or years, whichever comes first. If you have no service history, we check the recommendation by VIN.
Taxi and fleet cars build up mileage quickly, so the replacement comes due sooner than on a car driven occasionally — it is worth keeping track.
Signs of a worn timing kit or clutch
For the timing kit, watch for squealing or rustling from under the cover, rattling on a cold start (common with a worn chain), coolant leaks near the water pump and rough running. Often, though, a belt gives no warning before it snaps — which is why mileage matters.
A worn clutch shows as slipping when accelerating, a high biting point, judder when pulling away or stiff gear changes. A dual-mass flywheel makes itself known with knocks and vibration when switching off or at low revs.
How the replacement works
Before work starts we agree the scope and parts — original or quality alternatives. The timing kit is replaced as a set: belt or chain, tensioners, idlers and usually the water pump, since it is often belt-driven and wears similarly. After fitting we check the timing marks and how the engine runs.
When replacing a clutch we also assess the flywheel and release bearing, so the gearbox doesn’t have to come off twice. If a head gasket problem is suspected, we diagnose it first.
How long it takes
On many cars the job fits in one working day, but with difficult access or waiting for parts it can take longer. We give the timing when you book.
How to book
The easiest way is online booking on this site: pick the service, day and time, and a manager confirms by text or phone. Prefer to talk? Call +48 500 554 850 or message us on WhatsApp — we reply during opening hours: Mon–Fri 9:00–18:00, Sat 10:00–15:00.
After a bump you can use the “Damage quote from photos” form: add photos of the damage, our AI assistant drafts an estimate, and a manager checks it and sends you a quote — free and without a visit.
CabFleet drivers pay as usual and add the invoice in their cabinet after the repair — CabFleet gives 23% back. Bolt drivers get 10% off when they show the app. Fleets can use a service subscription with fixed prices and priority booking.
Questions
When should the timing belt be replaced?
At the mileage in your car’s service schedule — we check it by VIN.
Do you replace the water pump with the timing belt?
Usually yes, if the timing belt drives it — this saves a second strip-down. We decide together with you.
Does a timing chain need replacing too?
Chains wear too. Rattling on a cold start is a sign to have it checked.
What are the signs of a worn clutch?
Slipping when accelerating, a high biting point, judder when pulling away and stiff gear changes. Knocks when switching off may point to the flywheel.
How long does a timing belt replacement take?
On many cars one working day, but it depends on the engine and parts availability. We confirm when you book.
Do you give a warranty on timing work?
Yes, on repairs and fitted parts. A manager will explain the terms for your car.
